In a report by Entertainment Weekly, actor Chris Elliott will guest-star in multiple episodes of the fourth season, as Glenn, a castaway living on a deserted island. Elliott will make his first appearance in the second episode of the fourth season.

Meanwhile, Kristen Wiig, who appeared in last season's "Got Milk?" and a cameo appearance at the end of "Nature's Horchata", is set to return in at least three episodes this season, including the season premiere, which is slated to air on October 1, 2017.[4]

In an exclusive report by TVLine, Saturday Night Live alumnus and actress Kristen Wiig is set to appear in a special recurring guest arc on The Last Man on Earth. No information regarding character details was announced as Fox representatives declined to comment. The Last Man on Earth is still scheduled to return on March 5, 2017 with the remaining nine episodes of the third season.[6]

Fox announced today its premieres and mid-season returns for several programs. The Last Man on Earth will return on March 5, 2017 at 9:30/8:30c with nine new episodes. Simultaneously, Phil Lord & Christopher Miller's Making History will premiere the same day, but an hour beforehand at 8:30/7:30c. Other shows that are returning or premiering during the Spring include Kicking and Screaming, Shots Fired, Empire, Prison Break, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, and Lucifer.[7]

Fox announced today that it has renewed both The Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn-Nine-Nine for the 2016-17 season.

In it's second season, The Last Man On Earth has averaged 4.5 million viewers per episode in it's Sunday timeslot and is currently registering a 2.0 in it's 18-to-49-year-old demographic, making it Fox's top-rated live-action comedy.[10][11]

Fox has announced that The Last Man on Earth will return on March 6, 2016 with new episodes. The show will return to its original timeslot at 9:30/8:30c. Bordertown, which currently had Last Man's timeslot, will move to 7:00/6:00c. The final stretch of episodes for Season Two will feature "the dumbest looking thing you've ever seen" and a guest appearance by Jacob Tremblay as a young Phil Miller.[12]

While at Fox's All Star Party on January 15th, Will Forte revealed himself with a new look, a half shaved head, eyebrow, and beard. Mel Rodriguez, who plays Todd, also shaved half his head and half of his mustache. According to Forte, the new look is said to be for The Last Man on Earth. He also mentioned last month, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that "there is one thing that I have been so excited about and it is going to be the dumbest-looking thing you have ever seen".[13][14]

Fox has recently ordered a pilot for an untitled time-travel comedy. Currently, the series is about "three unlikely friends who find an even less likely way to travel through time, irreversibly complicating their personal lives."
